A New Season
CALLING ALL WASHINGTON STATE SCOTS!!
The New Year is upon us, with a new year we are coming up on a new season of games and events.
Our main goal this year is to attend as many games as possible and to collect the rest of the signatures needed for the Scottish Heritage License Plate.
To refresh you and bring everyone up to date the license plate is the most important project in the Scottish Community.
To be able to achieve this goal will mean we will have a continuing source of money to contribute to the growth and continuation of our heritage. The sale and renewal of the license plate will be a great tool to bring our heritage to the public and to individuals. This is a win/win situation.
Please check out the rest of the website, then take the time to download the license plate form and collect those signatures. Every entry with a verifying signature counts and remember this is a petition for the Department of Licensing to issue the license plate and not an obligation to purchase.
If you have any questions please feel free to send in an e-mail thru the Washington State Scottish Heritage Society website.
Thank you for your support,
Linda McDonald, President

Our first newsletter, it's exciting. This is a very big and exciting year for us. Since we launched this project and gone on the Web it has been non-stop.
So with this being our first newsletter, I would like to intorduce myself and invite you to become famaliar with our board of directors and our website.
My name is Linda McDonald. I am the President of the Washington State Scottish Heritage Society The Society was conceived for the primary purpose of promoting public interest in our rich Scottish heritage.
We have spent the summer spreading the word about the Society by going to as many of the highland games as we could possibly make. We have met and spent time with so many of you this summer, it was an incredible experience. Your positive feedback and shared excitement for this project is wonderful.
A major part of the Society is the license plate. With the success of the license plate we will be a self sustaining society.
The State of Washington requires signatures for 3500 sets of plates and approximately $35.000.00 set up fee up front. We have at this time approximately half of the needed signatures. Memberships and donations are one way of raising money, but we are also looking for grants for the up front money. Once we have the signatures and needed funds we apply for the license plate to be issued. The application and license plate design is reviewed by the Department of Licensing. A State Representative submits the required legislation, and when all is done the State will contact the people who signed up for the license plate to see if they are still interested. Whew! It is a process but is achievable and most definitely worth while.
Working on the website has opened our eyes to the richness of the Scottish community in Washington. We have been to highland games in every corner of the State. Enjoyed the End of Season Ceilidh in Olympia, All Clans Dinner in Federal Way, Keith Highlanders Concert in Kirkland, Heather Tartan Ball in Seattle, and Tacoma Scots Burns Dinner in Fife.
Visit our website often and stay updated on up coming events. If there is an event you know of and don't see on our events calandar, please let us know so we can include it.
